Land Acknowledgement
thinkertank and thinkertankApps live and work in Mississauga, Ontario, within the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and on the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat and Haudenosaunee peoples. These lands have been home to Indigenous peoples since time immemorial, and we are grateful to work and create here.
We offer this acknowledgement as a sign of respect to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the treaty holders of the land our studio operates on, and to all Indigenous peoples who live in and care for this territory today. It is a small commitment, made sincerely: to keep learning about the history of these lands, the treaties that govern them, and our responsibilities under those treaties.
About these lands
The present-day City of Mississauga sits within the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, whose community is today located at the Mississaugas of the Credit reserve near Hagersville, Ontario. The City of Mississauga itself takes its name from the Mississaugas, and formally acknowledges these lands as part of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.
The wording above follows the guidance published by the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation for organizations located within their Treaty Lands and Territory.
